It’s a false belief that only older adults have strokes. The stroke will happen to anyone at any time, including children, teenagers, infants, and unborn babies. The risk of stroke in kids is greatest in the first year of life and during the period of right before birth to right after birth. Common risk factor for stroke in children includes:
  • Congenital heart defects
  • Immune disorders
  • Head or neck trauma
  • Abnormal blood clotting
  • Sickle-cell disease
  • Diseases of the arteries
  • Maternal history of infertility
  • Maternal infection in the fluid nearby an unborn baby
  • Premature rupture of the membrane throughout pregnancy
  • Pregnancy linked to high blood pressure in the mother
